What is the Hamburg Card?

The Hamburg Card is the official tourist card of the Hanseatic city, which allows visitors unlimited use of public transport and discounts at many sights.

Attractive discounts of up to 50% for more than 150 attractions in Hamburg
incl. hop-on/hop-off bus, boat trips, city tours, museums, theatre, St. Michael's Church, town hall etc.
Free travel on public transport (underground trains, suburban trains, buses & ferries)
The Hamburg Card is available for individuals (one adult + up to three children under the age of 15) or groups of up to 5 people
Valid for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 days
The digital Hamburg Card can only be used with a smartphone app (free of charge).

For the entire duration of the Hamburg Card, you can use public transport operated by the Hamburg Transport Association (HVV) free of charge. The following means of transport are included:

Buses, metro buses, express buses, night buses
Underground trains, suburban trains
Harbour ferries (HADAG)
Valid for journeys in 2nd class
Fare zone: AB (includes the airport and almost all tourist destinations)
The Hamburg Card is valid from 0:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following day

Tip: With the Hamburg Card you can use the S-Bahn from the airport to get to the city centre of Hamburg.

How to make optimum use of the Hamburg Card

Big savings are possible with a harbour cruise. Several providers accept the Hamburg Card and offer up to 20% discount.
Use public transport regularly to explore the city! Travel free of charge on buses, the underground, S-Bahn and harbour ferries.
Start your journey in the morning, because the Hamburg Card is valid for up to five calendar days from 0:00 in the morning until 06:00 on the following day (no 24-hour units).
Visit sights and museums that don't take up much time. The more time you have available, the more attractions you can visit.
The Hamburg Card for groups is worthwhile for two or more adults. The group ticket is valid for up to five people and is a very attractive offer.
For families, both the individual tickets, which allow three children under the age of 15 to travel with you, and the group tickets (for five people, regardless of age) are suitable.

The Hamburg Card in four steps

1) Buy Hamburg Card

The Hamburg Card can be purchased online or over the counter at Tourist Information Centres, ticket machines or HVV service points. When purchasing online, select the date from which you would like to use the card.

2) Receive online ticket

If you buy the Hamburg Card online from our ticket partner Tiqets.com, you will then receive a digital ticket that must be converted into the actual Hamburg Card.

3) Download app

To use the Hamburg Card, you need to download the free app "Hamburg - Experience & Save" to your phone. Your digital ticket includes instructions on how to use the Hamburg Card in the app.

4) Use the Hamburg Card

The Hamburg Card is automatically activated on the day you selected at the time of purchase. Show the digital card at the participating attractions. The benefits can only be used on site. It is not possible to reserve tickets online.
